Hakim Pitts

Contemplative Space Facilitator

Hakim Pitts is a Philadelphia native, multi-potentialite, and creative who works & lives at the intersection of social entrepreneurship, community advocacy, and personal development. He's worked in many industries but his most salient work and identity is as a dreamer. He believes dreaming is sacred, deeply personal, and political; a revolutionary act of resistance and hope that's entrenched in ancestral legacy and Black tradition. Currently, he's fulfilling many of his passions working alongside young people as a Dream Director with the burgeoning non-profit, The Future Project; and as a partner of a new start up, Shoppe Black. His work has been featured in The Philadelphia Tribune and at Arcadia University.

In Summer 2017 past summer, he trained youth and young adults in community organizing, advocacy, & social entrepreneurship through a fellowship in Bulgaria & Romania sponsored by the US Dept. of Education & Culture Affairs. Hakim's spiritual identity was formed  and developed with the Black Church grounded in Black Liberation Theology and Pentecostalism. During his early twenties, he served in a Reformed/Calvinist church plant and now is an Aborisha within the Yoruba Diasporic Spiritual tradition. One of his passions is supporting folks on their spiritual journey and find healing and wholeness using an intersectional Black Queer Feminist lens & worldview.
